Nook Nook

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

1. Introduction

Nook ("the App") is developed and operated by Laura González López ("we", "us", or "our"). Nook is a wellness app offering guided sessions adapted from EMDR techniques, breathing exercises, and bilateral calm tools. This Privacy Policy explains what data we process and why. We have designed Nook to keep as much as possible on your device, and we do not require an account, name, email, or phone number to use it.

2. Voice and Speech

On-device transcription. During a guided session you can speak instead of typing. Speech is converted to text on your device using Apple's Speech framework. Your raw audio is not uploaded to our servers — only the resulting text becomes part of the conversation.

3. The Guided Sessions (AI)

To generate the guide's replies and spoken voice, the text of your conversation and a small amount of session context (for example: the emotion or body sensation you describe, a subjective distress rating, and your language/country) are sent over an encrypted connection to our backend and to trusted third-party AI providers (a large language model for the replies and a text-to-speech service for the voice). This content can be personal and sensitive because it relates to your emotional wellbeing. We use it solely to deliver the session in real time and to keep brief, non-advertising session logs for safety and quality. These logs are not linked to your identity and are kept for at most 90 days, after which they are automatically deleted. We never sell it or use it for advertising.

4. Stored On Your Device

Your preferences (voice, language, audio), the resources you choose to keep (anchor words, safe places), and an interrupted-session snapshot used to offer "resume where you left off" are stored locally on your device. The session snapshot is deleted when the session completes or expires. When a session produces a personal resource in audio form, it is generated on our server at your request, delivered to your device, and stored only there — the server does not keep the audio or its script. We do not have access to this on-device data.

5. The Guide's Memory (Optional)

At the end of a session the guide can offer to remember a few things for next time (for example your anchor and what helped you). This memory only exists if you tap "Yes, remember me" — that tap is your consent. It is stored in your iPhone's Keychain, which means it survives deleting the app — if you reinstall Nook, the memory is still there until you erase it. When you start a guided session, the memory travels encrypted with that session request so the guide can use it on the fly (including the AI providers described in section 3). It is never stored on our server or in the session logs . Without a subscription, the guide only uses entries from the last 24 hours; with Nook Pro it uses the full memory. You can erase everything at any time with "Forget what you know about me" in the App's settings — the erase is instant and happens entirely on your device.

6. Subscriptions

Nook Pro subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. Subscription status is managed through Apple and a subscription-management provider (Superwall) that tells the App whether your access is active.

7. Analytics & Tracking

To understand how the App is used (screens viewed, taps, crashes) we use Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics). This usage data is aggregated and pseudonymous, never includes the content of your conversations, and is processed by Google (including in the United States). We also record first-party usage events (for example, which mode you started or finished, and whether voice was on) tagged with an anonymous per-install ID that is not linked to your identity and never includes the content of your conversations. Nook does not track you across other apps or websites and does not use advertising identifiers.

8. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data and to object to or restrict its processing. Because Nook has no login, session logs are not linked to your identity; contact us at the address below and we will help with any request. The legal basis for processing your session content is the performance of the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for sensitive content, your explicit consent given by starting a session (Art. 9(2)(a)).

9. Children's Privacy

Nook is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has used the App, please contact us.

10. Not a Medical Service

Nook supports your wellbeing but is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis or treatment. It does not replace professional care. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services (in Spain, 112, or the suicidal-behaviour helpline 024).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
